The Never Ending
Dream
The night was
quiet. It was so quiet that you could hear the leaves blowing around the house
outside. Inside, a little girl named Bri lay on the floor sound asleep. She
wasn’t like most girls however. She had a problem, so she slept all day and all
night for over 2 days without awaking once.
You see Bri was
in a coma. She was on the verge of dying and no one knew about it. Two days ago
her parents went on a business trip and left Bri at the house by herself. She
was capable of handling her own and didn’t mind it. Once day, she tried to
reach a box of cereal on the fridge by standing on a chair. Suddenly she lost
her footing and slipped. She fell head first into the corner of her countertop
and busted her head wide open. The pain was so great she instantly passed out
and eventually went into a coma. The Coma was saving her life, because if she
was not in one then the pain would be too great and the blood flow out of her
head would be much higher than what it is at now.
Clinging to life
in her coma Bri started to dream. She dreamt that she was a princess of a
castle with many jewels and a lot of gold. She had everything she ever wanted.
The only thing she lacked was companion to share everything with. She went
outside to see if anyone was there. Bri didn’t see a sole. She searched around
the castle and outside for hours but it seemed like Bri was the last person on
earth.
Bri began to
panic then suddenly; she rose up from her dream with a sigh of relief realizing
he just had a nightmare. She got out of bed and went into the kitchen to get
make a kettle of tea. The kettle was dusty so Bri went to get a rag to wipe the
dust off with. When she did, smoke began to spew out to the kettle and a cloud
shaped body formed from the smoke. It was a Genie. The genie was evil and he
said he would slay the first person who let him loose. He said that he was
trapped in there for over 100 years and no one ever let him out. At first he
was going to grant whoever let him free wishes for eternity, but over time he
grew cold and vowed to kill the person to free him. Bri begged for her life.
She didn’t understand why she was bout to die. The genie raised his giant sword
and trusted it toward her. As the Genie did this Bri again woke up from a
dream!
This time she
woke up outside of her house. She went in only see a horrific sight. She saw
her own body on the floor covered in blood. She had no idea what was going on.
Then a spirit came to her and told Bri what had came of her fate. The spirit
said that if Bri were to wake up then she would most likely die. It was best
for her to stay in a coma and wait for her parents to get there and take her to
the hospital. After hearing the news Bri fainted from disbelief. When she woke
up again she found herself in the same spot in the kitchen laying down where
she fell. Bri believed that it was all
over but when she felt her head for the wound it was flawless. She was still
dreaming.

Authors Note: I decided to base my story of the Arabian Nights in the Un-textbook. The segment has many different stories that segway into each other. I think it is a really good read and there are some interesting stories. The dreams in my stories are similar to the many stories that Scheherazade tells to the Sultan to try and save her life. I wanted the coma to represent the Sultan in a way to show that her life was up to her.
Oh man, this kind of thing terrifies me. Even reading about dreaming like this makes me feel so trapped! I had a dream kind of like this when I was younger. I think people call it a "false awakening." I dreamed that I went to bed and something woke me up after a while. I got up and went to the living room to see what was going on and my parents looked... weird. It's hard to explain. Their fingers were too long and their eyes were too big. I realized I was still dreaming when my I knelt down next to my mom and was startled awake by her appearance. It's such a weird feeling, isn't it?
ReplyDeleteYou did a great job writing this. I want to read the rest, though, because I want Bri to be okay!!
This was really cool. The dream within a dream storytelling style was creative and impressive. It reminded me of Inception! I think we've all had dreams like this though where you think you wake up and start getting ready for school or work or something, but it turns out you're still asleep. It's so freaky! Now I'm still worried about Bri because I'm not sure if she's awake or not. Great story!
